JUNE 27th FILLING BAGS
Many thanks to our 23 Saturday volunteers.
JUNE 28th OUTREACH
After church we finished loading our five vehicles. Pastor David Cartwright sent us off with a prayer and we headed to McDonald’s to pick up 130 hamburgers.
On this morning we had the privilege of helping Tammy Chan with Grand Prarie Homeless Outreach Organization. Tammy led us to four different locations where we shared Bags, clothing, and shoes with 23 unsheltered homeless men and women.

Living on the margins of society.
Next stop: Austin Street Shelter area
Austin Street Shelter does a good job serving women 18 and over, and men 45 or older. Unfortunately there is always fifty or more homeless folks living near the shelter that need help. We focus on serving those living on the streets and also provide Bags, clothing, shoes, and other items to those staying at the shelter.
Helping women with their needs.
Gave out a total of 73 pairs of shoes on this outreach.

SWEET ENCOUNTER
Traveling in a 5 vehicle caravan has its downfalls. Traffic and unsafe conditions will not allow us to help everyone. This is a story from Sunday!
We are enroute to another location when we see a young mother with a babe in arms and a 5-6 year old girl. This young mother is standing in knee high grass on the side of the road selling flowers. Our second car in line slows down and hands water out the window to the mother, next car slows down and hands out insect repellent, next car hands out Bob’s Bags and burgers. They were very thankful and let us know that.
WHAT’S THEIR STORY?
Lorena-47 and Diego-52: About a year ago, Lorena lost her job as a cashier and Diego lost his job as a roofer. He continues to work as a day laborer when possible; she has been unable to find a job. They live in their truck and have created a living area next to it.
Francisco-66 and Rosie-50: Rosie was very soft-spoken; she was nervous and cautious. She said she and Francisco had been living outside for many months. She is adrift from her family for reasons she kept to herself. Neither of them are currently employed, but work “catch as catch can”. She was particularly appreciative having Bob’s Bags presence.
Squirrel-44 and Angie-28: Squirrel injured his shoulder and has been unable to work. Angie works at a Jack-in-the-Box. Five years ago, their trailer burned to the ground and they have not had stable housing since then. They do not have a working vehicle and have not for some time.
Jeff-52: Jeff lost his apartment. He is working part-time but was unable to pay his rent after the monthly rate was increased. That happened about a year ago. He does have some family in Fort Worth w/ whom he maintains a relationship.
Chad 57: Chad stated that he was illegally evicted. A bit too complicated to explain, but it is in litigation. He hopes to return to that address. Chad works as a mobile mechanic, but is unable to secure stable housing at this time.
Freddie 39: Freddie has worked as a day-worker for about 3 years. He works whenever there is work to be done. He has been living outside for 8 or so years. All his identification documents were stolen from him. He has been trying to get new documents. He was directed to the booklet with helpful numbers and organizations included in Bob’s Bags.
James-39: James has been living outside for 3 months. He is trained as an electrician but lost all his tools when his car was impounded.
Richard-61: Richard moved to TX from MI in August 2025. He lived with his sister and her husband. All were displaced when the rent was raised beyond what they could pay. He is trained as an electrician and is looking for a job. His sister and her husband continue to help him as they are able.
Catrina-46: Catrina lost her apartment as a result of family violence. She is currently living at the Austin Street Shelter. She has 4 children who are living with her mother. She maintains a relationship with them. Her domestic violence case is working its way through the Courts.
David-58: David had part of his foot amputated as the result of diabetes. He lost his job about six weeks ago. He lives at the Austin Street Shelter and has been assigned a caseworker. He has no family. David was very appreciative of all the efforts of the Bob’s Bags volunteers.
Cassandra—68: Had to leave her apartment due to domestic violence
Antoinette-26: Temporarily living at Austin Street Shelter because of domestic violence.
TONY, KEVIN, & ASHLEY
A little kindness goes a long way!
Tammy with Grand Prairie Homeless Outreach Organization called us for help. Tony-66 needed clothing for the next day to wear to his brother’s funeral.
Tammy with Tony picking up clothing.
Tony dressed in his new clothes and shoes at his brothers funeral.
We saw Kevin walking by our church and invited him in for breakfast, personal care items, and clothing.
Clothing, shoes, & food were appreciated.
Ashley-34: came to our church asking for help. Lelia our church administrative assistant, and Bonnie helped her with clothing while we called one of our outreach partners that picked her up and took her to a shelter.
We were happy to see Ashley this past Sunday at the Austin Street Shelter. She is making positive steps in getting a job and permanent housing. Ashley was delighted to see us!
