It’s gonna be cold! Bundle up!
U.S. Army veteran Kenny, age 69, salutes us for our efforts.
Whitney, Bob, and Jennifer
Tuesday, January 20th: We received a call from Jennifer who was desperately in need of a tent. Jennifer had been temporarily living at Whitney’s moms home, off of Camp Wisdom Rd., and was told by Whitney’s mom to be out of her home today. She would be dropping her off at a homeless encampment that evening.
We met Whitney and Jennifer 30 minutes later at the church. Both ladies would be homeless in the next few hours.
We supplied tents, sleeping bags, blankets, cold weather clothing, and shoes for Whitney.
Wednesday, January 21: Knowing frigid weather was on the way, we loaded two vehicles with cold weather supplies, and McDonald's sausage biscuits.
We focus on helping the most needy, the unsheltered, and underserved. Most of today’s group were found under bridges, and on vacant lots.
For the next couple of hours, we helped 19 women and 37 men.
43 heavy coats, as well as vests, hoodies, socks, beanies, gloves, rain ponchos, blankets, sleeping bags, and tents were given to this group. 212 total articles of clothing.
Many people contributed to this effort by donating clothing, blankets, and financial contributions. Thank you for helping us help others!
Our cheery crew for this day, Bob, Jim, Gayle, and Tom.
First stop, Anna age 29: appreciated the sausage biscuit, coat, and other supplies.
Barry age 48: needs housing, was thankful for the new coat and other supplies
Bobby age 47: currently living under this bridge, says he’s made mistakes and needs God to move in his life. He very much appreciated a tent, sleeping bag, and other supplies.
Renee age 57 and Casey age 29
We met Renee, in the grey sweater, age 57, earlier. She was living in a tent under a nearby bridge. We gave her a black coat and other supplies.
15 minutes later, while on our way to another location, we saw her again. She was giving her new black coat to Casey, age 29, who didn’t have a coat.
We stopped and gave Renee the grey coat.
Blessings to Renee for her generosity toward Casey.
Casey, age 29, was new to the streets. She very emotional when Jim gave her food, clothing, sleeping bag, and a tent. She couldn’t believe we were helping her.
Darlene, age 59, loves her new coat
Luther, age 36, very thankful for our help.
Dallas Fair Park has opened the emergency shelter with space to accommodate 1300 people. Unfortunately, there will still be hundreds living on the streets.
Please pray for those living outside, and living in shelters.
